Anatomy of a Card

Every part of a Lived Mishnah card is doing a job. Here's the quick tour — what each piece is, and why it helps you learn.

Three real cards — one of each kind. A read-along card from the Omer journey, in the earlier layout. A mesechta card from Sheviis, the current build. And a series card from The Churban, which adds the two pieces a mesechta card has no use for: where you are in the journey, and how the Mishnah fits its arc. Not every card carries every part, but where a part appears, it does the same job. Learn it once here.

Two things worth knowing before you start. ☰ Contents, top-left, opens the whole run — every Mishnah in the series or mesechta, with your progress marked. And ⧉ Swipe the card turns the page into panels you move through one at a time; on a phone it is on by default, because there is no room for everything at once. On a wide screen the Hebrew stays pinned beside whichever panel you are reading, so you can hold the text and the chart in view together.

The Sheviis card below shows the current layout: a form tag naming what kind of teaching you have met (a rule · a case · a list…) — the six kinds are explained here — a clause-by-clause translation beside the Hebrew, and, where the Mishnah has a geometry, the shape of the Mishnah drawn before the summary chart.
