The witnesses reach Yerushalayim — on Shabbos

Past one's techum, only four amos

Beis Yaazek — a great courtyard

The name: “safe and guarded” — or “cramped”
Or a town's own courtyard in Yerushalayim

There Beis Din examined them — and fed them well

Permissivewould gather,
Permissivewould examine
Permissivethey would make
So they'd want to come again

At first they could not leave all day

Restrictivethey would not move from there the whole day.
Rabban Gamliel HaZaken: 2,000 amos every waygrandson of Hillel
Permissivethat they may walk

The same for the midwife — and all who come to save

Permissivebut this applies also to
A fire · raiders · a river · a fallen building
Permissivethese are like the residents of the city, and they are given
→ like the people of the town: 2,000 amos
Today: doctors and Hatzalah returning on Shabbos
