One who slaughters a cow and divides it [on credit] on Rosh Hashana - if the month was intercalated, [the debt] is cancelled.
and if not, it is not cancelled.
[Payments of] the rapist, the seducer, the defamer, and any [obligation imposed by] act of beis din - are not cancelled.
One who lends against collateral, and one who hands his documents over to beis din - these are not cancelled:
A reading aid, not an exact translation.

This English is a clause-by-clause rendering to help you follow the Hebrew. It is not word-for-word literal, and it is not a transcript of the recorded shiur — the audio carries explanation and context the translation deliberately leaves out.

What is cancelled and what is not
CaseRulingReason
And if a butcher divides a cow’s meat on credit on the thirtieth day going into Rosh Hashana after the Shemittah year — does Sheviis wipe the debt away?If the month was intercalated — that day was really Elul, the sale still in the outgoing year — cancelled; if not — it was already the new year — not cancelled
Do payments imposed by beis din — the rapist, the seducer, the defamer — get cancelled? No
And if one lent against a mashkon (collateral), or handed his loan documents to beis din to collect? Not cancelled
Transcript
A machine transcript of the recorded shiur.

This is the shiur as spoken, transcribed automatically and left unedited — the wording is Ephraim's, and occasional transcription errors remain. It follows the audio word by word.
