One who trims vines or cuts reeds -
Rabbi Yose HaGelili says: he must distance [it] a tefach.
Rabbi Akiva says: he cuts in his usual manner, with an axe or a sickle, with a saw, or with whatever he wishes.
A tree that split, one may bind it in Sheviis - not so that it should heal, but only so that [the damage] not increase:
A reading aid, not an exact translation.

This English is a clause-by-clause rendering to help you follow the Hebrew. It is not word-for-word literal, and it is not a transcript of the recorded shiur — the audio carries explanation and context the translation deliberately leaves out.
