Three kinds pickled in one barrel
biur comes for each at a different time
Until when may the barrel be eaten?
Rabbi EliezerOn the first — once the earliest kind is gone from the field, the whole barrel goes→ the first kind gone takes the whole barrel
Rabbi Eliezer: each gives its taste to the rest
Rabbi YehoshuaEven on the last — eat them all until the latest kind is gone→ all of it, until the last kind is gone
Rabbi Yehoshua: Shemittah today is d'rabbanan — or: holy food is not destroyed
Rabban GamlielEach kind for itself — when its kind is gone from the field, he removes that kind from the barrel; and the halacha follows his words→ take out each kind when its own is gone
“The halacha is like him” — not in the Yerushalmi's text
Rabbi ShimonAll vegetables share one biur clock Eat purslane until the wild purslane ( sigariyos ) of the valley of Beis Netofa is gone — its moist ground keeps it in the field latest→ all vegetables share one time
Rabbi Shimon: vegetables go by season
Purslane: until the wild purslane of Beis Netofa is gone
its wet ground keeps it green longest
PermissiveOne may eat
